Bean and Thyme Bake

1 tbspn olive oil |
2 tbspn crème fraîche |
150 gm onion (prepared weight) |
1 tbspn dried thyme |
1 tspn garlic |
1 slice bread |
175 gm tinned beans of choice |
75 gm cheese |
Preparation
- Finely chop the onion.
- Crush the garlic.
- Make breadcrumbs from the slice of bread.
- Grate the cheese.
- Mix the breadcrumbs with the cheese and ½ of the thyme.
- Butter an ovenproof dish.
- Heat the oil in a pan over a medium heat, and fry the onion for 5 min until soft.
- Stir in the garlic and cook for 1 min.
- Add the beans, crème fraîche, season to taste, and mix well.
- Remove from the heat and stir in the rest of the thyme.
Cooking
- Pour the bean mixture into the ovendish.
- Cover the top with the breadcrumb mix, pat down, and drizzle with a little olive oil.
- Put the ovendish into a cold oven, set to 190º C and bake from cold for 25 min.
Notes
This can be prepared ahead of time and placed in an automatic oven, set as appropriate.
