Balti Baked Beans


For 1 Continued...
1 tbspn oil ½ tspn ginger
125 gm onion (prepared weight) ½ tspn garlic
1 tspn green chilli ½ tspn ground coriander
1 small tin (220 gm) baked beans ¼ tspn garam masala
½ green pepper ¼ tspn ground cumin
1 tomato (option) ¼ tspn salt



  1. Heat the oil in a pan.
  2. Add the onion and fry on a high heat for 2 min.
  3. Add the chilli and green pepper and fry on a medium heat, stirring, for 2 min.
  4. Add the ginger and garlic and fry, stirring, for 1 min.
  5. Add the garam masala, cumin, coriander and salt and fry for 1 min.
  6. Add the beans and simmer for 3 min adding water as necessary to prevent drying.


  1. Serve with naan, pitta or chapati.


Optionally, a fresh tomato cut into 8 pieces can be added with the baked beans.
