Making Grasses

This is an idea I gleaned from the internet, very good it is too. To make the applicator the top end of the eye of a needle needs to be chopped off using a pair of side cutters and the needle pushed into a bottle cork to enable easier handling. Then some strands of fibre - can be small lengths of garden twine - are trapped in the 'U' shape of what remains of the needles 'eye'. This is then pushed into the baseboard (assuming it is covered in something like polystyrene). This causes the fibre strands to 'stick up'. The applicator is then easily pulled away leaving the grass clump in place. The tips of the fibres can the be dabbed with a little coloured paint to simulate a flower or grass head.
