C41 Pre-Cooked Lentils
This is to be used as a portion of pre-cooked lentils in the c46 chicken dhansak.

30 gm red lentils |
½ chicken stock cube |
½ tspn turmeric |

Cooking - approx 10 min
- Using a large pan, thoroughly wash the lentils in cold water until the water runs almost clear, then drain.
- Using the same pan, add 250 ml cold water, bring to the and boil and simmer, partially covered, for 5 min, stirring regularly and adding boiling water only if needed to prevent drying and burning, skimming off any foam that forms with a slotted spoon.
- Crush in the stock cube, add the turmeric and simmer, regularly stirring, scraping the pan, partially covered, for 4 min, adding a little boiling water if needed to prevent drying and burning.
