C41 Pre-Cooked Lentils

This is to be used as a portion of pre-cooked lentils in the c46 chicken dhansak.

Ingredients

Makes 1 portion Continued...
30 gm red lentils ½ chicken stock cube
½ tspn turmeric  

Cooking - approx 10 min

  1. Using a large pan, thoroughly wash the lentils in cold water until the water runs almost clear, then drain.
  2. Using the same pan, add 250 ml cold water, bring to the and boil and simmer, partially covered, for 5 min, stirring regularly and adding boiling water only if needed to prevent drying and burning, skimming off any foam that forms with a slotted spoon.
  3. Crush in the stock cube, add the turmeric and simmer, regularly stirring, scraping the pan, partially covered, for 4 min, adding a little boiling water if needed to prevent drying and burning.
